Athletics + Adventure
I regularly look for travel ideas that keep me from being sedentary. The most taxing thing I have ever gone through was caving in Vietnam which entailed four days of 8 hours of hiking up and down mountains in the middle of July. Normally I am extremely headstrong and competitive, especially when it comes to physical activity, but this was the first time in my life in which I could see the finish line but had to stop. I have played volleyball in 100 degree Fahrenheit gyms with no air circulation for 8 hours and that was still leaps and bounds easier than this adventure. The experience was amazing, especially since the tour group, Oxalis, prides themselves on their sustainable tourism.
Another adventure I found motivates me to try new things and find new places to visit is SCUBA diving. I fell in love with SCUBA because it is a total paradigm shift from my planar existence into a world that allows me to freely move in 3 dimensions and is full of strange and beautiful creatures.
